Mission trips to Molo’s House of Hope and Nanyuki’s Neema House are a different kind of mission trip. Each trip is specifically designed with the strengths of the team in mind. And each trip has a designated goal- to provide knowledge about feminine care and bring feminine kits, to bring letters from sponsors, to bring supplies like cloth diapers, wipes, or crib sheets given by the P82K family, or to provide training to the staff, guardians, and caregivers in Kenya. These are a few of the goals of recent trips.
The Fab’rik team in February had two goals in mind. They had a passion for the babies at the Neema House and so wanted to provide the caregivers a day of respite. They also have a heart for girls in need. They brought piles of beautiful new clothes donated through their Free Fab’rik program, and spent a day with the young women of Molo- giving out clothes and pouring the love of Jesus into their hearts.
In March, the team held staff training for the Molo community staff. We are always striving to improve the care of the children. We have very low turnover in staff- none! It’s because we are dedicated to the care of the children and to the care of the caregivers. The P82K team spent time with several guardians and caregivers who have been with us for several years, to hear their thoughts and stories. They are the hands and feet of Jesus to these children and we are committed to supporting them in their most important role.
In June, we plan to bring letters to the children. They love opening your letters, so please start writing! Building the relationship between sponsor and child is an important part of the P82 mission. We are truly a community together.
This year, we will send 7 teams to Kenya! On every trip, we gather together as a community on Saturday and worship together on Sundays. Our teams spend time in prayer for the children, the guardians, the caregivers and staff. And we spend a lot of time giving thanks to God for all He is doing!
